GTA massively multiplayer? - Gamerz-Place Forums

Has anyone heard anything about plans for an online version of GTA? Sort of like an RPG? I've heard rumors but never anything concrete, and I'm just wondering if Rockstar is even thinking about it.

I think it would be a good move if they could do it right...I picture computer-controlled civilians -- the cops and every one else would be playable by the gamers. Like, police vs gangs / mobsters, all battling for control against each other. It would be classic.

See, this is what I dream of. I like multiplayer games, but the fantasy ones get old after a while. If GTA was multiplayer it would be simply awesome stuff.

You could essentially have GTA: USA, with the entire country being a playing field, and be able to travel cross-country. Hmm, I think I'm drooling now

Ah what you described Mark, that would be unreal. I'm sure in the next few years we'll see something like it, perhaps not GTA, but something similar.

I get sick of seeing what could be awesome massively-multiplayer type games turned into crap, though. Like, Star Wars coulda been awesome IMO, but to me it just felt like Everquest with different characters and stuff. Hopefully if they do GTA, it'll be much different than the traditional RPG thing. That's ok if you want to shoot lightning bolts and cast spells, but not UZIs or RPGs

Yeah, you could essentially work your way up from being some low-life street kid to being some low-life, but high-rolling drug lord who owns the entire east coast

Hell, even have a 'character roll' where it determines the level of prosperity you start off with, so you could end up as a young rich kid who has a one-up on the poorer players, but also has everyone try to jack him

Yeah,they came out with this. I played it, It's ok. Way yo much role play though they make u stop at red lights or u get banned/kicked. You have 2 type "/gets out gun" or "/robs __(what eva character name is)" But other then all of that it was pretty good. Deleted it off my comp though.
